Questions About the Race

  1. Are the events timed?
The 10 Mile Run, 10K Run, and 5K Run/Walk are timed. This year's race bib number has a timing sticker attached to the back. PLEASE DO NOT FOLD YOUR BIB NUMBER before the event. All you need to do is pin it on the front with safety pins provided and your time will be recorded. Also, no need to turn it in at the end! The Girls 1 Mile Run is not timed, so there is no timing sticker.
  2. Can the races be walked? What time does the course close?
The course closes at 11:00 a.m.  The 5K event can be either a walk or run event. Walkers will begin towards the back of the pack so as to prevent accidents and crowding. Due to the limited amount of time the race course is open, we cannot allow walkers to participate in the 10 Mile or 10K Run events.
  3. Are strollers, baby joggers or dogs allowed?
No. For the safety of the participants, strollers, joggers and pets are not allowed.
  4. Where can I keep extra clothing while I am participating?
We will provide a bag check area at the event site, for all participants. You can check your items from 7:00-11:00 am.
  5. Where do I park my car? Where can I park my bike?
Parking is limited; we suggest carpooling or public transportation if at all possible. See the Directions & Parking section on the Event page for more information. If you ride your bike, bike racks are available at the pavilion.
  6. Will there be refreshments or food?
There will be water stops (including the start/finish area) along the course. In addition, post-race food for participants will be available at the food tent.
  7. Can I run with my daughter in the 1 Mile? Do I have to register separately for that?
A parent or guardian may run with a child in the 1 mile event, and no separate registration is required for the parent/guardian. If you plan to participate in the 10 Mile/10K or the 5K after the 1 Mile event, you must register for that.  Please note start times: 1-mile at 8:00 a.m.; 10K and 10-mile at 8:30 a.m.; 5K at 8:45 a.m.
  8. If I cannot finish the race after I begin, is there transportation to the start/finish?                   If you find you cannot finish the race after you have started and feel you do not need transportation for medical care, you are welcome to arrange for your own transportation to your next destination. Women Run the Cities is unable to provide rides to participants.
  9. In case there is inclement weather, what happens?     However, for safety reasons, we will cancel the events due to lightening or other severe weather and unfortunately, we cannot provided refunds.  Please watch our Facebook or Twitter feeds for updates if severe weather is present.  If lightening or severe heat is NOT a factor, then all races will be held rain or shine.   Please dress for the weather conditions!
  10. Do you offer a training schedule to help me prepare for the race?  We are pleased to announce we have partnered with Moms On The Run to provide training for our races.  Moms On The Run will help you run your first 5k, improve your speed and endurance or stay motivated in your walking routine!  The group is for all women, not just moms, and all fitness levels are welcome.  You'll start out right where you are at, and walk/jog/run your way up to your very first race or new personal record.  Check out Moms On The Run at: http://momsontherun.com/
  11. Will the public bike/running trails be open during the race? Yes. The course travels through public city and park space. Please observe standard etiquette and care, and stay clear of the public running/bike trails. Please use caution when crossing these trails, and be respectful of others using them.
